Actor Dennis Farina Dies

Chicago police officer-turned-actor Dennis Farina died this morning in an Arizona hospital due to a blood clot in his lung. He was 69.

Farina, most recently seen on HBO's Luck and as Nick's scheming father on FOX's New Girl, started off his career as a Michael Mann player - appearing in the Mann film Thief and Mann-produced shows Crime Story and Miami Vice.

Farina later became known for comedic mobster roles such as Jimmy Serrano in Midnight Run, Ray Barboni in Get Shorty and Cousin Avi in Snatch. He's also played FBI Agent Jack Crawford in Mann's adaptation of Thomas Harris' Will Graham/Hannibal Lecter novel Red Dragon, Manhunter.

As a testament to his long career, here's a (totally NSFW!) montage of Farina's best, most profane moments as Jimmy Serrano...
